Playgrounds are a fantastic way to fill in time with littlies and a chance for them to use some energy! Below are some of the playgrounds in the Hobart area. If you know of any other playgrounds please let us know.

Austins Ferry

A fenced playground next to the road with a seesaw,, swings, a spinning cup and a spiral slide. There is a cricket pitch and space for throwing a ball or just running around.

Battery Point

A swing is provided in the heart of historic Battery Point provides opportunity for the enjoyment of children whilst parents take in the delightful surrounds.

Napoleon Street
Located off Napoleon street in historic Battery Point this playground offers spring riders, a slide and a swing. The site offers extensive view of the River Derwent and is set in an attractive neighborhood park.

A popular and high quality facility, which provides access for both the residents of the Glebe area and visitors to the Queens Domain. The playground is located on Aberdeen Street and is in close proximity to the Domain Tennis Centre and TCA. The playground contains spring riders, a slide, combination units and a see-saw. Facilities at this site include an electric BBQ which has a generous shelter to provide protection from weather.

A popular family park surrounding the lower Glenorchy Reservoir. A choice of playgrounds for different age groups as well as ball areas and large shelters with either electric or wood BBQs. Willowbend Rd
This very secluded park is located next door to 84 Willowbend Rd, Kingston. It also has a bus stop. Secluded little park with lots of trees and flowers. Great for locals. Spring toy, spinning toy, swing set and picnic table. Suitable for maximum 4 children. Children love playing hide and seek in the trees.

Dru Point Reserve
The playground at the Dru Point Reserve in Margate has recently had a make over and is now an excellent multi access playground, designed to allow wheelchair access to most of the equipment. It also has a special wheelchair swing, which can be used by obtaining a key from the Kingborough Council. The playground is fully fenced with child proof gates and has a BBQ hut with seating and several BBQs. There are lots of things to entertain the little ones - swings, a slide, a large boat, a train, sandpit, funny mirrors and a variety of interactive pieces of equipment. With lots of benches throughout, it is a great place to come and play. The reserve also has several other BBQ huts outside of the playground, and another playground designed for older kids, as well as lots of space to ride bikes and play ball games. There are toilets and a kiosk nearby.

The Mt Nelson playground adjoins the sports ground and is located in Nelson Road. The site is a smaller neighborhood facility offering robust play experience. Electric BBQs and public convenience facilities are located near the playground as is the Mt Nelson Oval, which has proven to be a popular spot for those wishing to walk the family dog.

Mt Stuart

This playground is located in the area adjoining the Mt Stuart Hall and is available to the public as well as being utilised by children attending the nearby childcare care service

Mt Stuart Park
There is a large slide and unique climbing wall available for use at Mount Stuart Park located in Benjafield Terrace in Mt. Stuart. The covered electric BBQ and seating is located adjacent to a small sports field which is ideal for open play. There is also a great little cubby house, bouncers and treadmill roller.

The playground located on the foreshore at Cornelian Bay is extremely popular and has been designed to offer ease of accessibility. The playground fronts Cornelian Bay and has Public Convenience facilities and electric BBQs nearby.

Located on the corner of Pedder and Carlton Streets in New Town, this playground has a wonderful red train for the children to play on as well as a slide, swing and bouncer.

North Hobart

North Hobart Skate Park
Located in Cultural Park on the corner of Murray and Tasma Streets in North Hobart this site offers one of the most significant skating facilities available in Tasmania. The site has a contemporary skate facility which is available for use between the hours of 9.00 am and 8.00 pm each day. The park also includes a new children′s playground, which offers modern play elements for enjoyment. Public toilets are also available at this venue

Soundy Park
Located on the corner of Burnett and Argyle Streets this playground contains a range of facilities including spring riders, skales swing and combination units. The playground is fenced and is adjoined by a family friendly park with open space enabling a range of ball games and family enjoyment. The facilities at this location include public convenience facilities (fully accessible) and electric BBQs.

Long Beach Playground
Also known locally as The Boat Park, this area is provides a flat site and good quality playground facilities. Located at picturesque Lower Sandy Bay the facilities overlook the beach and River Derwent. This playground underwent a major redevelopment in 2009 and is now probably the best playground in southern Tasmania with a huge array of play experiences available including: bouncers, slides, various climbing structures, sand play areas, a water pump, swings, things that move and spin and so much more. There is easy access to much of the playground and a dedicated swing for the disabled off to one side. This site has electric BBQ facilities nearby as well as a large enclosed shelter with picnic facilities and toilets not too far away.

Marieville Esplanade
High quality facilities are available on the foreshore at Marieville Esplanade. There is a fenced area for smaller children. Swings, spring riders, combination units, a slide and see-saw are also available for older users. The site adjoins an open play area. Free electric BBQ facilities are available and public convenience facilities are located nearby.

The Parliament Street facility has two components. One side of the park has a large slide offering a thrill, whilst the other side has a designated playground area. This site located at Parliament Street Sandy Bay adjoins a small sports ground and offers excellent family facilities. Good quality public convenience facilities are provided at the site as is electric BBQ facilities.
