Activities for School Age Children

There are lots of things to do with older children. If you know of any other activities please let us know.

Holiday Craft Workshops

A range of craft activities during school holidays for 6-12 year olds, Workshops run for 90 minutes and the children will make craft projects on a particular theme. Themes include: scrapbooking, pirates, jungles, fairies, medieval, Aussie animals and more!

Sessions for September 2011 holidays include:
Monday 5th September "Mythical and Magical" - choose between making a Queen or Kings crown and cape or decorating a Pirate sword, eyepatch and hat
Wednesday 7th September "Fabulous Felt" - learn how to make a fabulous felt scene out of wool using an ancient wet felting techinique
Friday 9th September "Jump into Jewellery" - make several pieces of jewellery to take home

Held at the Sandy Bay Scout Hall during holiday time.
Sessions are held from 10.30am-12.00noon. Cost is $15 per session. Bookings Essential.

Junior Stamp Club

The Junior Stamp Club is aimed at 6-18 yr olds. Learn everything you need to know about collecting stamps. Activities include stamp swapping,stamp bingo,lucky door prize and free stamps are available. Parents welcome.
Hobart Library 10.00am-12.00pm last Saturday of every month.
Rosny Library 1.30pm-3.00pm last Saturday of every month.
(There are no meetings held in December or January.)

Scouts

The Scouting association offers lots of exciting opportunities for boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 24. Activities include: games, stories, craft and outings for the younger children and moving on to all sorts of outdoor activities for the older children.

Guides

Guides is for girls 5-18 years of age. Guides provides girls with fantastic opportunities to develop life skills, confidence to think and act for themselves, friendship, respect for the environment and a sense of community.

Double Helix Club

Join in the science fun and games with a range of great events for members of CSIRO's Double Helix Science Club. Grades 2-4 on Wednesday after school and grades 5 and above on Tuesdays after school.

Hobart Bike Track

There is a nice flat bike track starting at the domain, near the cenotaph and stretching out to Glenorchy, passing by a yummy icecream shop. A lovely family outing.
